Sandviks IK hosted Gottne IF at home on Nolia 1 in an exciting match in Division 2 Norrland. Despite a sparse crowd of 38 spectators, both teams gave everything they had from the kickoff.
Gottne IF started strong and took the lead in the 24th minute with a fine individual effort by Jack Green, who cut in from the right flank and sent the ball into the far corner behind Sandvik's goalkeeper.
However, Sandvik responded quickly. Just nine minutes later, Carl Stegmayr received the ball at the edge of the penalty area, took a touch to get past a defender, and struck the ball into the net with his left foot. The score of 1-1 was a fair result after a half where the teams were evenly matched.
In the second half, Gottne IF lost focus for a brief period, and the referee issued two yellow cards to Jack Green in quick succession. Unfortunately for Gottne, this led to a red card as Jack received a second yellow card, while coach Mack Ward was also cautioned.
To make matters worse, Gottne received another red card when Danny Harmon was penalized for a tough challenge and received his second yellow card in the 72nd minute.
Sandviks had several opportunities to take the lead, but Gottne's defense held up remarkably well. This was largely thanks to their goalkeeper, who saved a number of dangerous shots.
In the closing stages of the match, the pace picked up, and Gottne pressed forward. Despite two yellow cards issued to Mikael Norberg and Vide Rubensson Wallin, they failed to create any more significant chances, and the match ended 1-1.
Sandviks IK and Gottne IF will both have to settle for one point each as they look forward to their upcoming matches in the season. Referee Mattias Hiding, along with assistant referees Peter Lundin and Erik Välitalo, managed the match well despite some heated situations throughout the game.
