On a sunny Saturday afternoon, 2,045 spectators gathered at Electrolux Home Arena hoping to see an exciting match between Skellefteå FF and IFK Luleå in Division 2 Norrland. Skellefteå FF was at the top of the table while IFK Luleå sat in 5th place, making the match particularly important for both teams.
Referee Simon Svensson blew the whistle to start the match, and both teams had an even beginning. IFK Luleå substituted Viktor Drugge in the 29th minute, which would not prove to be an effective move. Instead, it was Skellefteå FF who managed to score the only goal of the match in the 59th minute, thanks to Ricardo Gué Rosa Cardoso.
IFK Luleå’s frustration began to grow as they desperately sought an equalizer. But it was not their day, and the team received two yellow cards, the first to Luis Carlos Oliveira Frazao Correia in the 60th minute and the second to Jordy Vleugels just a minute later.
Skellefteå FF also made intensive substitutions in the second half, bringing in Hampus Johansson in the 65th minute to replace goalscorer Gué Rosa Cardoso. IFK Luleå tried to make substitutions to improve their chances, but it did not help much when Chriss-Alex Boungou Kombo was substituted in for Frazao Correia in the 65th minute.
Skellefteå FF continued to substitute and Felix Lundberg came on as a fresh force in the 72nd minute. Skellefteå FF’s Riccardo Brugnoni received a yellow card in the 74th minute, but IFK Luleå could not capitalize on it.
In the final minutes, IFK Luleå’s hopes seemed to crumble as Joel Alatalo was substituted in to replace Hugo Bergman in the 75th minute. Hanner Ruales Toro and Samuel Degerstedt were substituted in for Skellefteå FF in the 80th minute, and the team tried to keep the ball away from their opponents.
Ihab Odeh, assistant coach, received a yellow card in the 82nd minute for IFK Luleå, and yet another yellow card was issued in the closing stages of the match. This time to Skellefteå FF’s Alex Åman in the 88th minute.
The match ended with Skellefteå FF as winners by 1-0, thus maintaining their position at the top of the table. IFK Luleå, on the other hand, lost and failed to climb in the standings. Both teams provided their fans with an exciting match to watch, but it was Skellefteå FF that came out on top.
