Just six minutes into the game, the first goal came, with the home team taking the lead through Rickard Thuresson. However, it proved to be a tough match for Vimmerby IF, as VMA IK began to apply pressure, and just 14 minutes later, Andréas Grahm equalized for the away team.

Vimmerby IF attempted to fight back, scoring a goal through Rickard Thuresson after an hour of play, but it was too late. VMA IK continued to find the net, scoring five more goals in the final 20 minutes of the match, two of which were scored by Eric Ek, who also received a yellow card.
