It was a tough match between IFK Karlshamn and Syrianska FC on Saturday afternoon at Vägga IP 1. In front of a crowd of only 50 people, referee Felix Jönsson kicked off the match where both teams were eager for three points.
Just four minutes in, IFK’s Adam Nensén received a yellow card following a tough tackle. Syrianska had several chances in the first half, but despite multiple good opportunities, the teams went into halftime scoreless.
The second half began with a yellow card for Matteus Behnan of Syrianska FC and a double substitution for Karlshamn, where Marcus Borggren came on for Shahin Feizi and Jonathan Karlsson replaced Jens Sjöström. It was Karlshamn that appeared to take control of the match after the substitutions, but despite a couple of dangerous chances, they were unable to find the back of the net.
In the 68th minute, Syrianska FC substituted Reyad Poles for Kevin Dennerby, and six minutes later, the only goal of the match was scored. Aziz Essaisi, number 10 for Syrianska, received the ball in Karlshamn's penalty area and shot a perfect ball behind the goalkeeper for a 1-0 lead.
Syrianska continued to press and created chance after chance, but Karlshamn managed to hold them off. When Abdo Barhe came on for Henry Sletsjøe in the 75th minute, it seemed Syrianska had control of the match, but a yellow card for Barhe in stoppage time dampened the mood a bit.
In the end, the match finished 1-0 in favor of Syrianska FC, who could head home with three points in hand. It was a tough loss for IFK Karlshamn but also an uplifting victory for Syrianska FC, who now solidify their position at the top of the table in Division 2 Östra Götaland.
