It was a hot Wednesday evening when Fränsta IK’s women’s team faced Matfors IF 1 at Myggvallen in Division 3 Medelpad. In front of an audience of 127, two teams fought to escape the bottom of the table.
The match started with a high tempo, and both teams showed aggressive defending. However, it was Matfors IF 1 who had a couple of dangerous chances, and in the 21st minute, they struck. Frida Bergqvist scored a beautiful goal, giving the away team a 1-0 lead.
Fränsta IK’s women’s team fought on and tried to equalize, but Matfors IF 1 was strong in defense.
In the 64th minute, Frida Bergqvist struck again and found the net, this time after a lovely pass from a teammate. The away team thus took a 2-0 lead that Fränsta IK's women’s team could not recover from.
In the 82nd minute, Ida Pettersson Nygren nailed the coffin shut for the away team with a fine header, and the match ended 3-0 in favor of Matfors IF 1.
After the match, there was joy for the away team as they took home three important points in the fight to avoid relegation. For Fränsta IK’s women’s team, however, it remains tough at the bottom of the table.
