Vimmerby IF started the match strongly and took an early lead in the 11th minute through Adam Kisitu. It was a well-placed free kick goal that left Boxholm's goalkeeper with no chance. Vimmerby IF continued to dominate the play and had several dangerous scoring opportunities, but Boxholm's defense held firm.
However, in the 59th minute, Boxholm IF found success. Danny Chalmers capitalized on a good attacking opportunity and scored, making it 1-1. The goal gave the home team new energy, and they began to create more dangerous chances.
