The match began in a very entertaining manner with two early goals from the home team, Övertorneå SK. First, it was Tommy Torvikoski who scored before Jussi Hakasalo extended the lead to 2-0 just six minutes later. Mattias Bäcklin added a third goal for Övertorneå in the 28th minute.
However, Gällivare Malmbergets FF did not give up and reduced the deficit to 3-1 through Ray Spear in the 31st minute. Joel Abrahamsson struck again for the away team just ten minutes later, and Mikael Jannok made the match even again by scoring 3-2 just before halftime.
In the second half, Gällivare continued to dominate, and Jack Green managed to equalize to 3-3 in the 61st minute. Just a couple of minutes later, they took the lead through Jannok and then extended it to 3-5 with two more goals from Ray Spear and Erik Johansson.
Övertorneå tried to put pressure on Gällivare at the end of the match but could not come back. Gällivare even scored their sixth goal through Johansson in the 79th minute.
The match ended with a surprising victory for Gällivare Malmbergets FF, 3-6, and the home crowd at Övertorneå IP left disappointed after a dramatic match.
