It was a duel at the top of Division 3 Northern Norrland as Sunnanå SK faced the league leaders IFK Kalix at home on Wednesday evening. Unfortunately, the match had to be played without any spectators at Sörvalla IP A, but that didn't stop the teams from delivering good and intense football.
It was the guests from Kalix who started the strongest, with Johannes Nilsson opening the scoring just 13 minutes in by putting the ball into the net past the home team's goalkeeper. Just four minutes later, IFK Kalix increased their lead when Daniel Gälman found the net to make it 2-0.
However, Sunnanå SK refused to give up, and in the 30th minute, Matin Sabori reduced the deficit to 1-2, giving the home fans hope. But just eight minutes later, Johannes Nilsson extended IFK Kalix's lead to 3-1 after a nice play switch.
At halftime, both teams made one substitution. Sunnanå SK brought on Javid Nawrozi in place of Mustafe Ismail Ahmed, while IFK Kalix substituted Erik Höglin for Johannes Norén. It was the guests, however, who continued to be the stronger side at the beginning of the second half, and in the 49th minute, Johannes Nilsson was substituted for Farhan Abdi Mohamed.
But Sunnanå SK had other plans, and Aleksandar Sorgic reduced the score to 2-3 in the 55th minute after a nice assist from Edvin Sundkvist. The home team continued to press, and Enis Beqiraj came on for Marcus Svensson in the 69th minute in search of an equalizer.
However, it was IFK Kalix who sealed the match when Joel Waara made it 4-2 after 74 minutes of play. Sunnanå SK kept trying, but they couldn't create enough dangerous chances, and the match ended 2-4 in favor of the league leaders from Kalix.
In summary, it was an entertaining match between two good teams, and IFK Kalix demonstrated their class as they once again took three points and solidified their position at the top of the table. Sunnanå SK faced a tough challenge and will need to recharge to earn new points moving forward.
