The deserted arena at Vejby IP was filled with the sounds of team buses rolling in to the parking lot on a Saturday afternoon. Vejby IF hosted their guests, Husie IF, in a Division 3 match, and the audience did not show up at all. The referee Emil Persson started the match at 14:00, with assistant referees Emir Cripljanin and Daniel Gorgievski.
The play was even at the beginning of the match, but after a red card for Husie’s Christopher Mikael Fröjd in the 24th minute, it was Vejby IF who took control. Two minutes later, the home team was awarded a penalty, which Mario Gadza neatly converted into a goal.
Husie IF substituted Felix Maurer in the 25th minute, but it didn’t help. In the 35th minute, Mario Gadza added another goal to his tally, and Vejby IF took a firm grip on the match. Husie’s Ali El-Masri also received a yellow card before the referee blew for halftime.
At halftime, Vejby IF substituted in Christopher Wessman, who would prove to be a valuable backup by scoring the fourth goal of the day in the 72nd minute. Husie’s Filip Jönsson received a yellow card in the 58th minute, and the game became increasingly intense. Albin Sturesson scored Vejby IF’s third goal in the 60th minute, silencing the Husie supporters who were not present.
Vejby IF substituted in Dennis Hansson, while Husie IF brought in Philip Clemén and Amir Hadzic in the 67th minute, but it wasn’t enough. Instead, it was Vejby IF’s Wessman who set the final score with his goal. Vejby IF substituted in Alban Sogojeva in the 81st minute, but he also managed to receive a yellow card before the referee blew the final whistle. The final score was a clear victory for Vejby IF, 4-0.
