On Saturday afternoon, Färjestadens GOIF hosted league leaders VMA IK at Tallhöjdens IP. Despite there being no spectators present, the atmosphere was high ahead of the match.
VMA IK quickly showed who the better team was by creating several dangerous goal-scoring opportunities within the first few minutes. Färjestadens GOIF played defensively and struggled to break through VMA's midfield.
In the 32nd minute, VMA's Rasmus Lundin received a yellow card after a tough tackle on a Färjestad player. Shortly thereafter, Färjestadens Johan Öhlin, the team’s coach, was cautioned for protesting against the referee.
After an hour of play, VMA's Calle Nilsson stepped up and scored the first goal, making it 1-0 for the away team. Just two minutes later, Julian Grozdanovski doubled the lead to 2-0 with a beautiful header. Färjestadens defense had difficulty handling VMA's swift attacking play.
In the 65th minute, Julian Grozdanovski scored his second goal of the evening after participating in a fine attack alongside VMA's other striker. Färjestadens attempts to reduce the deficit often resulted in VMA regaining possession and launching new dangerous counterattacks.
In the 73rd minute, VMA IK substituted Elliot Blennborn and Calle Nilsson to bring on Liam Frick and Andreas Lind in order to play a more defensive game. Färjestaden also made two substitutions, but their efforts to create something positive remained fruitless.
The match concluded with a somewhat chaotic atmosphere; Färjestaden's Joakim Mellborg received a yellow card in the 90th minute. Thus, VMA IK finished atop the table, while Färjestadens GOIF remained in seventh place.
