Venue: Hagavallen, Växjö

Hovshaga AIF hosted Färjestadens GOIF at Hagavallen in Växjö in Division 3 Sydöstra Götaland on Wednesday evening. Despite the match being played without spectators due to ongoing restrictions, it was an exciting game between the two teams.

Before the match, Hovshaga AIF was in 2nd place in the table while Färjestadens GOIF was second to last. The home team were favorites to secure the victory, and that’s exactly what happened.

However, the goals did not come until the second half. Just after the substitution in the 55th minute, Färjestadens GOIF had the chance to change the course of the match by bringing on Benjamin Knezevic and Joakim Mellborg. Unfortunately, this did not help.

Instead, it was Hovshaga AIF who took the lead in the 60th minute through Oskar Bolin after a nice attack from behind. Just six minutes later, Linus Nilsson extended the lead to 2-0 for the home team with a header following a well-taken corner.

Färjestadens GOIF tried to catch up, but Hovshaga AIF held their defense together and maintained a solid control over the match. Filip Sparavec received a yellow card in the 70th minute after a tough tackle on the home team.

Both teams made player substitutions in the 74th and 75th minutes before Hovshaga AIF made two more substitutions in the 81st minute. Färjestadens GOIF noticeably looked tired and could not challenge the home team.

Anton Aldentun received a yellow card in the 86th minute for the away team, but it was too little, too late. Hovshaga AIF managed to keep their game together and won the match 2-0. Noa Karlsson was substituted in late in the game for the home team but did not have the opportunity to make a significant impact.

Hovshaga AIF maintains their second place in the table while Färjestadens GOIF continues to sit in the lower half. It was a convincing performance by Hovshaga AIF in a match that will not be remembered for its spectator turnout.
