It was a lovely summer evening at Kobbegården 1 Artificial Grass when Askims IK (B) faced IK Virgo in Division 4 Gothenburg A for ladies. The attendance wasn’t high with only 22 people present, but those who were there witnessed an entertaining match full of excitement.
The match started cautiously, and neither team managed to create any dangerous chances in the first few minutes. However, it didn’t take long before the play began to open up. After 25 minutes, Jennie Henningsson from IK Virgo received a yellow card for a tough tackle, indicating that the match was starting to get tougher.
After 33 minutes, it was Askims IK (B) that took the lead with a nice effort from Märta Lyréus. After that, the game's dynamics changed, and IK Virgo desperately tried to create opportunities, but Askims’ defense stood firm and did not allow the visitors any dangerous chances.
In the second half, the tempo picked up, and both teams created more dangerous chances. However, it was Askims IK (B) who again found the net, this time through Lina Gustafsson. With a two-goal lead, the match felt decided, and Askims IK (B) held on until the end of the match to win 2-0.
Referee Ahmad Alhasan, assisted by Jesper Kuhn and Viktor Vernersson, had a good match and kept order in the game. Despite the low attendance, it was an entertaining match that featured many fine performances from both teams. Askims IK (B) displayed a strong defense and secured three much-needed points in Division 4 Gothenburg A for ladies.
