Bälinge IF 2 welcomed SK Iron on Sunday afternoon at Bälinge IP 2. Although the match was played without any spectators in the stands, the players were eager to showcase their skills on the field as it was the last match of the season. Referee Nicholas Lubwama blew the whistle to start the match, and right from the outset, it was Bälinge IF 2 who pushed the game forward.
It didn’t take long for Bälinge IF 2 to take the lead when Lilja Wärnsberg scored 1-0 in the 14th minute following a nice attack. SK Iron struggled to hold on, and in the 29th minute, Lilja Wärnsberg had another opportunity to score, increasing the lead to 2-0, which she did.
Bälinge IF 2 continued to create dangerous situations, and in the 35th minute, they were awarded a penalty. Unfortunately, Lilja Wärnsberg missed the penalty after SK Iron’s goalkeeper, Malin Sundström, made a save.
SK Iron kept fighting, and in the 39th minute, Isabell Östman scored to make it 2-1, which gave them new energy. Fanny Bergström had a chance to equalize with a penalty in the 44th minute but was saved by Bälinge IF 2’s goalkeeper.
The match had been intense, and both teams worked hard. SK Iron desperately tried to find an equalizer, but the goal never came, and the match ended with a 2-1 victory for Bälinge IF 2. Malin Sundström of SK Iron received a yellow card in the 80th minute, but it did not affect the outcome.
Bälinge IF 2 finishes the season in seventh place in the league, while SK Iron ends up second to last. Despite the result not going SK Iron's way today, it was a brilliant performance from both teams, who fought hard until the very end.
