On Wednesday evening at Apalby 2, Västerås IK Women faced Sala FF Women in a match in Division 4 Västmanland, women’s league. Despite the attendance being zero, the match delivered a goal-fest and excitement right up until the final whistle.
The match started with an unfortunate own goal by Sala FF Women, giving Västerås the lead. However, it didn't take long before Cecilia Bahar from Sala FF Women equalized with a powerful shot. Just three minutes later, Västerås conceded another own goal, allowing Sala to take the lead.
Thea Modén from Sala then extended the lead further by shooting the ball into the net. Västerås reduced the deficit with another own goal, but Sala responded immediately with a brilliant performance from Cecilia Bahar, who would go on to score later in the match.
Västerås, however, did not give up and fought their way back into the match with goals from Emmalisa Eriksson and Jatta Aalto. Aalto also scored from a penalty kick after being fouled in the penalty area.
Sala FF Women would then regain the lead thanks to a fantastic hat-trick from Cecilia Bahar, but once again Jatta Aalto responded for Västerås and equalized from a corner kick. Then Moa Ingvarsson scored the final goal of the match, giving Västerås the lead, which they managed to hold until the final whistle.
Referee Rasmus Tingstedt blew the whistle after witnessing Västerås come back from a two-goal deficit to win 6-5, demonstrating that anything can happen in football.
