It was a sunny Sunday afternoon at the Olympic field Plan 8 when Croatia Helsingborg KIF took on Båstads GIF in a heated match in Division 5 Skåne Nordvästra. With the audience figure of 80 people and referee Besnik Berisha as leader, it was a packed team that took to the field.
The match started with an early yellow card for Båstad's GIF's Casper Sjöström in the second minute. However, Croatia Helsingborg KIF did not care and quickly took the lead in the sixteenth minute with a goal by Mitch Ewertzh who sent the ball into the goal after a nice pass.
It wasn't long before Båstad's GIF suffered another setback, as an own goal saw Croatia Helsingborg KIF extend their lead to 2-0 in the 21st minute. But Båstad's GIF tried to keep up and was able to close the gap with a goal from Magnus Kjellsson in the 33rd minute.
The tempo of the match increased more and more and Båstad's GIF felt pressured. Noel Dock showed frustration after his previous yellow card by making an excessive tackle and was marched off the field with a second yellow card and thus a red card in the 21st minute.
Croatia Helsingborg KIF continued to press their opponents and were rewarded in the 63rd minute with a goal from Filip Johansson, making it 3-1. However, Båstad's GIF did not give up and fought back, with Anton Isberg's goal in the 88th minute putting some pressure on the home side.
But Croatia Helsingborg KIF kept their cool and were able to finish the game strong with a goal from Johansson again in the 90th minute, which put the game on the line and gave Croatia Helsingborg the 4-2 victory.
It was a hard-fought match where Croatia Helsingborg KIF showed why they were the more experienced team and took home all three points. Båstad's GIF fought bravely and will surely recover from the loss in the next match.
