IF Ariel managed to turn a two-goal deficit into victory in a dramatic match against IF Stjärnan at Ekskogsvallen in Kristdala. With an audience of 83 people and under the leadership of referee Jonatan André, the match started at 7:00 PM on Friday evening.
IF Stjärnan started strong, and already after 26 minutes, Emil Ulmborg scored 0-1 for the visiting team. IF Ariel fought hard, but when Ulmborg scored again in the 51st minute, it seemed that the match was pretty much over.
But Ariel refused to give up, and when Henrik Karlsson scored a goal to reduce the deficit in the 60th minute, things began to change. When Rasmus Linde then equalized to 2-2 with a free kick in the 82nd minute, it was clear that an exciting finish was in store.
In the 90th minute, Pontus Erlandsson became the match hero when he scored 3-2 for Ariel, sending the crowd home cheering.
The match was sloppy for large parts, resulting in a total of seven yellow cards and two red cards for the players. Robin Nilsson and Patric Fransson were sent off for Stjärnan at the end of the match, which made the comeback for Ariel easier.
An unexpected victory for Ariel, which now sits in fifth place in Division 5 Småland Nordöstra. One can only wonder what the coaches, the three referees, and both teams thought after this thrilling match.
