Glömminge-Algutsrums IF maintained their lead at the top of Division 5 Småland Sydöstra after securing an important away victory against Kalmar AIK FK on Friday evening. The first 15 minutes were fairly evenly played without any direct goal opportunities, but it wouldn’t take long before Glömminge-Algutsrums IF found the net. In the 15th minute, Joel Mattsson received a nice pass on the edge of the penalty area and sent the ball into the goal, making it 0-1 for the visiting team.
In the 24th minute, Glömminge-Algutsrums IF extended their lead to 0-2. Johannes Lagesson received the ball in midfield and launched a fantastic long pass that set him up one-on-one with the goalkeeper. He made no mistake and placed the ball in the net.
But Kalmar AIK FK refused to give up. In the 38th minute, Kreshnik Avdyli reduced the deficit after receiving a nice cross from the left side. The score became 1-2, and Kalmar had a glimmer of hope.
However, that glimmer would quickly be extinguished. Glömminge-Algutsrums IF responded in the 40th minute through Anton Fransson, who struck the ball perfectly in the penalty area to make it 1-3.
Kalmar continued to fight, and in the 77th minute they had a chance to reduce the margin again when Flamur Popaj managed to outsmart Glömminge-Algutsrums IF’s goalkeeper to make it 2-3. Thanks to that goal, the atmosphere on the field and in the stands lifted, but it was too late. Glömminge-Algutsrums IF had already done the job and won the match 3-2.
Yellow cards were issued to Filip Svendsén from Kalmar AIK FK and Milad Eliassi from Glömminge-Algutsrums IF. Despite the loss, Kalmar AIK FK sits in a respectable eighth place in the table while Glömminge-Algutsrums IF still leads.
