Both teams took to the field at Stadshagens IP 2 in front of an empty arena – Tekniska Högskolan FC and Örby IS were set to face off in Division 5 Stockholm B for women on Saturday afternoon. Referee Imtiaz Karim immediately signaled the start, and the match was underway.
It didn't take long for Tekniska Högskolan to take control of the match. Just five minutes in, they took the lead through a fine individual effort from midfielder Lisa Johansson, who rounded the defenders and placed the ball high into the net. Örby IS tried to respond immediately, but TSH remained solid in defense and easily cleared the danger.
After 25 minutes, TSH earned a corner, which captain Emma Karlsson drove high into the penalty area. The ball found its way to forward Sara Svensson, who struck with a bounce and shot the ball into the top right corner. Örby IS attempted to seize control of the game, but frustration began to grow.
In the second half, TSH continued to dominate. Sara Svensson increased the lead to 3-0 after a lovely combination with attacking midfielder Lina Andersson, who found an exact passing route to Svensson, who made no mistake. Örby IS responded by pushing higher up the pitch, but TSH defended well and managed to transition quickly from their own goalkeeper.
After 70 minutes, there was an eventful substitution from TSH's fullback Lucia Ilic. Ilic cut in from the right flank, got past a defender, made a nice foot feint, and slotted the ball into the far post. Örby IS finally managed to score a consolation goal after TSH's defense momentarily lost focus, but it was too little, too late.
TSH held firm even in the last minutes of the match and concluded with a spectacular goal from Emma Karlsson, who converted a penalty taken by Lina Andersson. The match ended 5-1.
A well-played match by TSH, who once again demonstrated their dominance in Division 5 Stockholm B. Örby IS needs to return to the drawing board and rethink their strategy ahead of their next match.
