It was a sunny Sunday morning at Mullevallen Artificial Turf when Riala GoIF hosted visiting Jomala IK/IFKM in Division 5 Uppland East for women. With an audience of 30 people and Edin Bajric as the referee, an exciting event was in store.
The match started with high intensity from both teams, but it was Jomala IK/IFKM that controlled the game from the outset. After a quarter of an hour into the match, Jomala managed to score the first goal with a precise header from midfielder Sofia Johansson. Riala fought to get back into the match, but Jomala continued to apply pressure, and just before halftime, they extended their lead. This time it was forward Nina Andersen who found the back of the net after a fine pass from right-back Linnea Andersson.
In the second half, Riala made a couple of substitutions to get back in the game. They created some dangerous goal-scoring chances, but the Jomala defense held firm. Instead, it was the visitors who struck again on a counterattack. Nina Andersen secured her second goal of the day after a nice pass from forward Emilia Andersson. Riala continued to battle for a goal, but Jomala held strong, and the match ended 0-3 in favor of the guests.
It was a well-played match by both teams, but it was Jomala who kept a cool head and managed to capitalize on their chances. Riala will now need to bounce back after this loss. Next week, they face Myrängens IK while Jomala takes on Storvreta IF.
