AIK secured an important victory against IFK Kalmar at Skytteholms IP 1 in Elitettan on Saturday afternoon. With AIK in fourth place and IFK Kalmar in fifth in the standings, it was a match that generated a lot of excitement among the 147 spectators present.
AIK started the match with a strong playing style, so much so that they were able to take the lead just four minutes in through Nicole Odelberg Modin. IFK Kalmar tried to find their game but struggled to break through AIK's defense.
In the 32nd minute, IFK Kalmar received their first warning of the match when Christabel Oduro received a yellow card. Nicole Odelberg Modin from AIK also received a warning in the 56th minute, followed by another warning for Christabel Oduro in the 57th minute. Not only that, Oduro was also sent off.
After a tough battle from both teams, IFK Kalmar finally equalized to 1-1 in the 70th minute through Mathilda Johansson Prakt. But AIK did not give up, and the coach's decision to substitute Rusul Rosa Kafaji in the 70th minute proved to be a successful move – just ten minutes later, she scored to give AIK the lead.
AIK then brought in Samantha Ammanuel and Johanna Lindell in the 72nd and 80th minutes respectively to give the team an extra energy boost, and in the 93rd minute, Johanna Lindell scored her own goal to seal the win for AIK.
The match ended 3-1 in favor of AIK, and the team celebrated an important home victory. Referee Camilla Friberg kept control of the game, and assistant referees Patricia Yacoub and Monika Perunicic Joksic did a great job on the sidelines.
