The audience at Studenternas witnessed a close and exciting match between the home team IK Uppsala Fotboll and Alingsås FC United on Saturday afternoon. Despite Uppsala being the pre-match favorites sitting in third place in the table, it was Alingsås that started the strongest.
Just eight minutes into the game, the guests took the lead through Alma Öberg after a nice pass from Rebecca Cameras. Uppsala tried to equalize but struggled to create truly dangerous chances. Instead, it was Alingsås that extended their lead in the 28th minute with a free-kick goal from Cameras.
Uppsala seemed to come to life after Hanna Persson was substituted in the 24th minute, and just ten minutes later, Ida Strömblad managed to reduce the deficit to 1-2. Alingsås continued to threaten with quick counterattacks, and Moa Jarl received a yellow card in the 66th minute.
In the 74th minute, it was time for goal-scorer Stina Jensen to be substituted in, and it didn’t take long before she scored her second goal of the season—this time with a header after a nice cross from the right side. Uppsala did not lose heart and kept fighting, and in the 83rd minute, Moa Öhman made it 2-3 after a fine combination with Julia Ragnarsson.
Alingsås had to work hard to maintain their lead in the final minutes, but managed to hold on and take home three points from Studenternas. Lars-Petter Björk, the coach of Alingsås, received a yellow card in the 86th minute due to rising tensions on the bench. The match ended with a score of 2-3, and Alingsås could celebrate an important away victory in Elitettan.
