FC Trollhättan took a 1-0 lead just five minutes into the match when Alen Kasumovic found the net. After this, FC Trollhättan continued to create dangerous goal-scoring chances, and their attackers had more and more space to maneuver. After 41 minutes, the lead was doubled when Alibek Aliev found the far corner from just outside the penalty area.
The second half started evenly, but after 55 minutes, Åtvidabergs FF managed to reduce the deficit through Nathan David Millis, making it suddenly 2-1 in the match. This gave Åtvidabergs FF hope, and they began to take control of the game more.
