On Friday evening, Umeå IK FF and Linköpings FC faced off at Umeå Energi Arena SOL in the OBOS Damallsvenskan 2020. Despite there being no spectators present, the match offered an exciting showdown between the two teams.
Before the match, Umeå IK FF found themselves in second to last place in the table, while Linköpings FC was in second place. However, it was Linköping that started strong, and already in the fourth minute it was 0-1 to the visitors after an own goal by Umeå's defense.
After the halftime break, Linköping opted to make a substitution, bringing on Sofie Bruun Bredgaard in place of Lina Hurtig. But it wasn't until the 63rd minute that Linköping extended their lead, with Uchenna Grace Kanu scoring the goal assisted by Ebere Orji.
Umeå IK FF, however, did not let this defeat them and continued to fight. In the 77th minute, the team managed to reduce the deficit when Lova Lundin scored, assisted by Therese Simonsson. Just three minutes later, it suddenly became 2-2 on the scoreboard after Olivia Holm scored Umeå's second goal of the evening.
Linköping chose to make two substitutions in the 83rd minute, with Alva Selerud replacing Ebere Orji, and Emma Lennartsson receiving a yellow card in the 87th minute. But despite that, it was Umeå that were able to decide the match in the 90th minute, as Lova Lundin scored her second goal and Umeå's third of the evening.
After the match, it was indeed Umeå IK FF that took home the victory with a score of 3-2, and hopefully, this can give the team a little extra confidence for the rest of the season.
