It was a sunny Sunday afternoon when Linköping FC hosted AIK at Linköping Arena in front of an audience of 542 spectators. The referee for the match was Lovisa Johansson, assisted by Leonora Heimdahl and Caroline Lindqvist.
Before the match, it was clear that Linköping FC was in second place in the table while AIK was at the bottom. Expectations were high for the home team to continue their successful season.
The match started at a high pace, with both teams showing strong offensive play. After 15 minutes of play, the first goal came, and it was Linköping FC that took the lead. Olga Adela Ahtinen became the goalscorer and put the home team ahead 1-0.
AIK fought to come back and tried to create dangerous scoring chances. After 27 minutes, they made their first substitution, bringing Matilda Nildén on for Adelisa Grabus in hopes of bolstering their offense.
The second half began as intensely as the first, and it didn't take long before Linköping FC doubled their lead. Amalie Jørgensen Vangsgaard scored her eleventh goal of the season, assisted by Alva Selerud, making it 2-0 for the home team.
Nevertheless, AIK showed tenacity and did not give up. In the 68th minute, they managed to reduce the deficit with a goal from Linda Hallin, assisted by Remy Siemsen. The score was now 2-1, and the tension returned.
Both teams made several substitutions throughout the match to strengthen their sides and try to find new scoring opportunities. The pace was high, and it became a physical game where both teams fought for every ball.
Towards the end of the match, the referee issued yellow cards twice. First, AIK’s Hedda Johansson was cautioned in the 54th minute for a tough tackle. Then, Linköping FC's Stina Lennartsson and Therese Simonsson both received warnings in the 81st and 89th minutes respectively for unsportsmanlike behavior.
AIK fought for an equalizer and substituted Julia Olsson for Emelie Jansson in hopes of boosting their offense. Linköping FC also made a final substitution, bringing Maja Johansson on for Chinyelu Asher.
However, the goal would not come, and the match ended with a victory for Linköping FC, 2-1. The home team thus retains their position in the table while AIK returns home without any points.
