Before the match, Eskilstuna United DFF was in 7th place in the table while Piteå IF DFF was in 8th place. Piteå IF DFF had lost their last three matches and really needed a win to end the season on a better note.

At halftime, Eskilstuna United DFF opted to make a substitution, bringing on Ngozi Sonia Okobi-Okeoghene for Lotta Ökvist in hopes of improving their play.
