Piteå IF DFF showcased on Sunday at LF Arena why they are one of the strongest teams in the OBOS Damallsvenskan. Already in the 19th minute, the home team took the lead through Cecilia Edlund, assisted by Ásla Johannesen. Just four minutes later, it was Edlund again who found the net, this time assisted by Anam Imo.
In the second half, it was Piteå’s Fanny Andersson’s turn to score. She increased the lead to 3-0 in the 56th minute, again with an assist from Anam Imo. However, Växjö did not give up and reduced the deficit through Hanna Stokki in the 58th minute.
Växjö chose to make two substitutions in the 61st minute in an attempt to turn the match around, but it was Piteå who extended their lead instead. Anam Imo scored to make it 4-2 in the 68th minute, before Tuva Skoog sealed the final score at 5-2 in the 72nd minute, assisted by Fanny Andersson.
The match provided excitement right until the final minute, and the home crowd at LF Arena could enjoy a dominant victory for Piteå IF DFF. Växjö suffered a heavy loss and remains in tenth place in the standings, while Piteå climbs to fourth place. The match referee, Eva Svärdsudd, had full control of the events and issued a yellow card to Piteå’s Wilma Carlsson in the 76th minute.
