It was a sunny Sunday afternoon at Arenastaden in Växjö when Östers IF faced Örgryte in an exciting Superettan match. In front of an audience of 2,068 spectators, it was Örgryte who got off to a dream start when Alvaro Santos scored a penalty in the seventh minute of the match.
After the goal, it was Östers IF that took control of the match and created several dangerous chances. However, Örgryte defended solidly and held on until halftime.
At halftime, Östers IF substituted Stefan Karlsson in for Daniel Petersson and tried to push even harder in the second half. Instead, it was Örgryte who extended their lead through Robin Jonsson in the 55th minute.
Östers IF continued to attack and managed to reduce the deficit in the 90th minute with an own goal from Örgryte's defense. But it would be too little and too late. Örgryte instead nailed the coffin shut by scoring through Luka Mijaljevic in the 67th minute and ultimately won the match 3-1.
Östers IF tried and fought hard, but Örgryte was the more effective team on this day. The referee, Fredrik Lundberg, maintained an acceptable standard and really didn’t have to make any major controversial decisions during the match.
