An intense match on Thursday evening saw GIF Sundsvall host Hammarby at Idrottsparken in front of a crowd of 5,480 people. After a closely contested first half, Emil Forsberg scored to make it 1-0 for the home team in the 43rd minute. However, Hammarby responded quickly, with David Lidholm equalizing to 1-1 just ten minutes into the second half.
GIF Sundsvall's Jonas Wallerstedt received a yellow card in the 61st minute, but that did not stop the team from bringing on Pontus Silfwer in the 64th minute in hopes of finding the lead. Instead, it was Hammarby who took the lead when Tobias Holmqvist was substituted in and scored 2-1 in the 74th minute.
GIF Sundsvall made a last desperate attempt to chase an equalizer by substituting Aziz Corr Nyang for Robert Lundström in the 79th minute. Hammarby also made a substitution, with Marcus Törnstrand replacing Isak Dahlin. But it was GIF Sundsvall who found the net again when Christian Brink scored to make it 2-2 right at the end of the second half.
Hammarby’s Johannes Hopf received a yellow card in stoppage time, and the match ended 2-2. Referee Jim Petersson and his assistants Björn Lindroth and Andreas Björkman can be satisfied with managing a match that saw both teams fight hard until the end.
