Östers IF started strong at home against Assyriska FF at Värendsvallen in the Superettan match on Sunday. After just twelve minutes of play, they took the lead through Freddy Borg with an assist from Olivier Karekezi. Borg also converted the penalty that led to Östers IF's second goal just four minutes later, and he completed his hat trick on his own in the 51st minute with Denis Velic providing the assist.

Assyriska FF fought back, and Mikael Ishak managed to reduce the deficit to 3-1 in the 64th minute. However, Matteo Blomqvist Rydén extended Östers IF's lead to 4-1 with a nice assist from Velic in the 85th minute. Ishak was able to score another goal for Assyriska FF in the closing minutes, but it wasn't enough to turn the match around. Östers IF won 4-2 after a very entertaining match in front of 1,840 spectators at Arenastaden in Växjö.
