Degerfors IF faced IFK Värnamo at Stora Valla in the eighth round of Superettan. With an audience of 2,473 people, the atmosphere in the stands was tense when referee Lars Olsson, along with assistants André Ovenberger and Matija Rafaj, blew the whistle to start the match.

Just eight minutes into the game, the first goal was scored, and it was the home team that took the lead. Andreas Eriksson Ljunggren shot the ball past the goalkeeper, and Degerfors IF went up 1-0.

After several missed chances from both teams, Degerfors IF finally got the ball in the net once again. In the 34th minute, Martin Broberg executed a clinical finish, putting the ball into the net with an assist from Peter Samuelsson. The home team thus increased their lead to 2-0.

IFK Värnamo tried again and again to score, but despite several substitutions in the second half, they could not come back into the match. Degerfors IF maintained their lead, and despite two yellow cards in the final minutes of the match for Christopher Brandeborn and Tobias Solberg, the home team held on to the 2-0 victory.
