IF Brommapojkarna faced Degerfors IF at home at Grimsta IP in the Superettan on Sunday afternoon. Before the match, the away team was a couple of spots above the home team in the standings, and the anticipation was high. A total of 2,016 spectators had come to the arena to watch the match.
The match started with a high tempo, and both teams gave their all. After just 15 minutes, IF Brommapojkarna's Gabriel Petrovic received a yellow card from referee Per Melin following a tough tackle.
After 40 minutes, it was Degerfors IF’s turn to receive a warning when Marcus de Bruin made a similar tackle. Just a minute later, Markus Flyborg Karlsson, assistant coach for IF Brommapojkarna, was shown a red card after a dispute with the referee.
At halftime, IF Brommapojkarna substituted Saihou Jagne in for Pontus Segerström. This substitution proved successful as Jagne scored a goal in the 65th minute after a nice pass from Serge-Junior Martinsson Ngouali.
Just two minutes later, IF Brommapojkarna struck again as Jagne scored his second goal of the day following a well-placed ball from Pablo Piñones-Arce. Only five minutes later, IF Brommapojkarna's Pontus Åsbrink added his second goal of the day with a fine assist from Piñones-Arce. The home team now led 3-0.
But Degerfors IF was not about to give up, despite being three goals down. Alexander Andersson scored a goal in the 80th minute, and Christophe Lallet netted another in the 85th minute, giving the visitors renewed hope. Additionally, Gabriel Petrovic, who had already been cautioned, received a red card after a reckless tackle just a few minutes later.
Degerfors IF continued to press, and after a nice pass from Amadaiya Rennie, Christoffer Wiktorsson scored in the fourth minute of stoppage time, sending the visiting fans into ecstasy. Niklas Klingberg was, however, shown a yellow card after the goal.
The match ended 3-3. IF Brommapojkarna squandered a 3-0 lead and has to settle for a shared point. Degerfors IF, on the other hand, continues their fine season and remains in fourth place in the standings.
