Ljungskile SK took an early lead in the match when Jonas Lindberg scored in the 16th minute, and he followed it up with another goal just two minutes later. However, IFK Värnamo did not give up and received a penalty in the 20th minute, which Dzenis Kozica successfully converted to reduce the score to 2-1.
Jakob Olsson of Ljungskile SK received a yellow card in the 21st minute, and Petter Björlund was booked in the 39th minute. IFK Värnamo substituted Sebastian Göransson in the 43rd minute, while Carlos Gaete Moggia left the field.
