After twelve minutes, GIF Sundsvall took the lead through Johan Eklund, largely thanks to some excellent play by Sebastian Rajalakso. Värnamo attempted to create some danger with a couple of corners, but Sundsvall managed to hold them off.
In the 29th minute, the score was doubled to 2-0 by Pa Amat Dibba, who was able to push the ball in after a nice pass from Kevin Walker. Dibba also took a blow to the head in the same situation but was able to continue playing. Sundsvall looked very stable at this point in the match.
In the second half, Värnamo managed to reduce the deficit through Oscar Johansson Schellhas after a nice setup by Pär Cederquist. The last three minutes of the match became tense as Värnamo really pressed for an equalizer, but Sundsvall managed to hold them off.
The match ended 2-1 in favor of GIF Sundsvall. In Sundsvall's substitutions, Johan Lundgren and Joakim Nilsson came on early in the second half, followed later by Leo Englund. For Värnamo, David Björkeryd came on in the 85th minute, and Behar Ferizi came on as late as the 88th minute. A strong victory for GIF Sundsvall, who kept Värnamo at bay throughout the match.
