GAIS achieved an important victory at Gamla Ullevi in the second round of Superettan when they defeated Frej Täby 2-0. Already in the second minute, the home team took the lead through Luther Singh, who executed a nice shot following a fine pass. Frej attempted to equalize but struggled to break through GAIS's defense. Philip Ellis received a yellow card in the 21st minute for a tough tackle on Singh.
GAIS defender Steven Old picked up a yellow card in the 24th minute for a similar tackle. Joakim Runnemo also received a yellow card for Frej in the 26th minute. Malkolm Moenza was booked for GAIS in the 55th minute, but then he received not just one, but two yellow cards within just a few minutes and was sent off in the 63rd minute.
GAIS then substituted Steven Old in the 43rd minute for Björn Andersson. Luka Mijaljevic came on in the 58th minute instead of Ibrahim Teteh Bangura. Richard Spong received a yellow card for Frej in the 77th minute, and Oke Akpoveta also received a yellow card for Frej in the 85th minute.
Finally, GAIS secured the decisive goal in the 87th minute when Liam Davis scored a fine goal after an assist from Kieron Cadogan. Björn Andersson and Pontus Åsbrink both received yellow cards in the 90th minute, just before the end of the match. A total of 4,010 spectators were present, and the match was officiated by Nermin Cisic, with assistance from Peter Arnesson and Pär Leek.
