Match in Superettan 2017
Match start: 2017-04-17 at 15:00
Venue: Olympia, Helsingborg
Attendance: 6,135
A close match took place at Olympia as Helsingborgs IF hosted Gefle IF FF on Monday afternoon. The home team had the support of the crowd and took control right from the start, but it was the visiting team that managed to score first. A header from Deniz Hümmet, off a pass from Christian Ljungberg, put Gefle ahead 1-0 just in the first minute.
Helsingborg upped the tempo after the goal and created several dangerous chances, but Gefle's defense held firm. In the 24th minute, it was Gefle that was red-hot instead. After a good play by Helsingborg's Jesper Lange on the right, Gefle had to send the ball into the penalty area to avoid a dangerous situation. Unfortunately for them, a deflected touch instead sent the ball into their own net, and the equalizer was a fact.
The second half was evenly matched, with both teams having chances to decide the game while Gefle tried to counter dangerously several times. Helsingborg's Max Svensson was brought into the match in the 70th minute, and he actually came close to giving the home team the lead a few minutes later, but Gefle's goalkeeper stood strong.
The match ended 1-1, and both teams walked away with one point each. It was a well-played match where both teams fought hard. Now, both teams look forward to the next game in Superettan.
