Match in Superettan 2017
Match start: 2017-06-12 at 19:00
Venue: Olympia, Helsingborg
Attendance: 7,683

The soccer fans in Helsingborg had high expectations when their team, Helsingborgs IF, faced IF Brommapojkarna at their home ground, Olympia. They received good support from the 7,683 fans, and hopes were high. However, it would not be a dream start for Helsingborgs IF, as the first blow came just ten minutes into the match.

IF Brommapojkarna took the lead 1-0 through Carl Starfelt, who headed in a ball after a well-placed corner from Markus Gustafsson. Helsingborgs IF tried to respond immediately, but it was a tough first half. Oke Akpoveta was booked in the 39th minute for a tough tackle. Just before halftime, Viktor Gyökeres extended the lead to 2-0 after positioning himself well in the penalty area.

The second half began with an energetic Helsingborgs IF that was really trying to make a comeback, but it would prove to be too little too late. IF Brommapojkarna's Viktor Gyökeres scored his second goal of the match and the team’s third with a header after a nice assist from Johan Falkmar.

Both Andreas Landgren of Helsingborgs IF and Tim Waker of IF Brommapojkarna were cautioned during the match, but this did not boost Helsingborgs IF’s confidence or fighting spirit. Instead, they made two substitutions in an attempt to turn the match around, but it did not seem to be their night.

IF Brommapojkarna's Christopher Brandeborn made it 4-0 with just five minutes left on the match clock. Anton Wede was substituted in for Helsingborgs IF just as he scored and thus had no real chance to influence the match significantly. The final score was 4-0 in favor of IF Brommapojkarna, who continued their remarkable season and pushed on toward the Allsvenskan. Helsingborgs IF is losing ground at the top of the Superettan and will hope for better results in their next match.
