Östers IF achieved a very important victory in Superettan when they defeated GAIS in front of an enthusiastic home crowd at Visma Arena in Växjö. Despite a difficult start where midfielder Mario Vasilj was sent off just 17 minutes into the match, Öster managed to stick to their game and create several dangerous chances.

After half an hour of play, Öster's Karl-Johan Lindblad had the opportunity to take a penalty, and he converted it in a dominant manner. It was a fact that the score was 1-0 to Östers, and GAIS desperately tried to get back into the match. But Öster was strong and composed, managing to keep GAIS away from their goal for long periods.

With 20 minutes left in the match, GAIS made several substitutions to try to strengthen their offense. Dardan Rexhepi received a warning, but GAIS continued to fight. However, Öster's David Johannesson would seal the match with his goal in the 90+2 minute, assisted by Lars Mendonca Fuhre.

The final score was 2-0 in favor of Östers IF, which means they now solidify their fourth place in the standings while GAIS stays in 11th place. It was a well-played match showcasing many of the strengths of Superettan and gave Östers IF a very important victory.
