On a cold Monday evening, 1,387 eager football fans gathered at Gavlevallen to watch Gefle IF FF face Halmstad in a Superettan match. The referee for the match was Adam Ladebäck, assisted by Pär Leek and Fredrik Hammarström.

The match started with a high tempo, and both teams had several dangerous chances in the opening stages. However, it was Halmstad who took the lead when Kosuke Kinoshita shot the ball into the net after 21 minutes, assisted by Pontus Silfwer.

In the 67th minute, Gefle made their first substitution, bringing on Fitim Kastrati to replace Yassin Housni. Two minutes later, Halmstad also made a substitution, with Dida Rashidi coming on for Höskuldur Gunnlaugsson.
