Degerfors IF won an exciting match at home at Stora Valla against Jönköpings Södra IF with a score of 2-1 in front of 1,709 spectators on Saturday evening in Superettan. Both teams started the match offensively, but it was the home team that received the first warning after four minutes when Erik Björndahl fouled an opponent.
After 18 minutes, Jönköpings Södra made their first substitution when Peter Gwargis replaced Anton Liljenbäck. It was Degerfors, however, that came closest to taking the lead in the 21st minute when Sargon Abraham shot on goal, but the ball went just wide of the post.
In the 27th minute, Joakim Karlsson received his first warning for Jönköpings Södra, and just a few minutes later, Viktor Götesson received his second yellow card of the match for Degerfors. Just before halftime, Jönköpings Södra scored when Jakob Orlov neatly placed the ball in the net with an assist from Jesper Svensson.
In the second half, both teams continued to create goal-scoring opportunities, but it was Degerfors who managed to score in the 57th minute when Erik Björndahl scored with a header following a nice assist from Sargon Abraham. Just a few minutes later, Peter Gwargis received his second yellow card and was sent off for Jönköpings Södra.
Degerfors continued to apply pressure on the visitors, and in the 70th minute, they were awarded a penalty kick. Sargon Abraham made no mistake and put the ball in the net. After the goal, Jönköpings Södra substituted Jakob Orlov for Fredrik Olsson and later Erik Moberg for Amir Al-Ammari, but they were unable to equalize.
In the 78th minute, Degerfors brought on Alexander Andersson, and in the 84th minute, Christos Gravius received his first yellow card for the home team. Degerfors continued to create chances, but the score remained the same until the final whistle. Degerfors won the match 2-1 and earned three important points, while Jönköpings Södra returned home empty-handed.
