It was an exciting match at Gamla Ullevi when GAIS faced Akropolis IF in the Superettan on Monday evening. In front of an audience of 1,894, referee Martin Strömbergsson and his assistants Conny Hugman and Marcus Strandberg had their hands full keeping track of the play.
The match started off tough for Akropolis IF as Panajotis Dimitriadis received a yellow card just 16 minutes in. GAIS then took the lead before halftime when Jonas Lindberg scored after an assist from Daniel Sterner.
In the second half, both teams fought to gain control of the match. GAIS made a substitution when Viktor Alexandersson replaced goalscorer Jonas Lindberg in the 66th minute. Akropolis IF brought in Daniel Larsson for Astrit Ajdarevic two minutes later, and another substitution followed as Andrew Michael Stadler replaced Marcus Burman.
It was then time for GAIS to substitute Daniel Sterner for Niklas Andersen in the 74th minute, but just one minute later, Akropolis IF equalized through Erik Figueroa.
Akropolis IF's coach chose to make two substitutions at once as Nicklas Lindqvist replaced Mattias Bouvin and Lamine Nekrouf took over for Linus Mattsson. GAIS made their final substitution when Aiden Connor Harvey came on for Malkolm Moenza in the 81st minute, but neither team managed to score again, and the match ended 1-1.
