Match in Superettan 2021
Match start: 2021-08-02 at 19:00
Venue: NP3 Arena
Attendance: 1,311
A goal-rich and dramatic match took place at NP3 Arena as GIF Sundsvall hosted IK Brage. Early in the match, the home team took the lead through Linus Hallenius, who received a nice pass from Pontus Engblom and confidently placed the ball in the net. Sundsvall continued to dominate the match and increased their lead to 2-0 after a fine performance by Alexander Blomqvist, who also received a pass from Engblom.
However, IK Brage managed to gain a second wind in the match after Sundsvall's Dennis Olsson received his first yellow card just before halftime. Shortly after the break, Pontus Silfwer also received a yellow card, which gave Brage something to build on. Adil Titi was cautioned for the guests, but that didn't stop them from continuing to fight.
After a period of substitutions on both sides of the field, Douglas Karlberg reduced the deficit for Brage in the 76th minute, after a nice pass from Joakim Persson. Karlberg scored again to make it 2-2 five minutes later, with an assist from Anton Lundin. Brage now had control of the match, and when Leonard Pllana put the ball in the net in the 83rd minute, it seemed like the guests would win.
But GIF Sundsvall did not give up, and after a penalty kick in the 88th minute, Pontus Engblom equalized to 3-3. Engblom had the chance to decide the match in the final moments but missed the penalty, and the match ended in a draw.
An exciting and eventful match, where both teams showed strength and fighting spirit. The final result may have been fair after a game that ebbed and flowed, with many chances on both sides of the field.
