GAIS won the heated Gothenburg derby 2-1 against Örgryte IS Football at Gamla Ullevi in Superettan. Over 7,800 people were present to experience the rivalry between the two teams on Wednesday evening.

The match started intensely with several cautions in a short period, with Anton Lans being the first to receive a yellow card just 13 minutes into the game. Mathias Karlsson also received a caution in the 15th minute for GAIS.

A penalty goal in the 16th minute gave Örgryte the lead when Ajdin Zeljkovic scored. Örgryte continued to dominate in the first half and had several chances to increase their lead.

While Örgryte committed several troublesome fouls, the team also received multiple cautions, with Ajdin Zeljkovic, Elias Gustafson, and Jack Cooper-Love missing parts of the second half after receiving two yellow cards.

GAIS made several substitutions in the second half, which proved effective when Richard Yarsuvat came on and equalized for GAIS in the 78th minute with an assist from Malkolm Moenza.

Eight minutes later, Richard Yarsuvat scored his second goal of the evening, giving GAIS the lead at 2-1, which ultimately secured the victory against Örgryte.

An exciting finish to the match saw several chances from both teams, but GAIS held on to win the match 2-1. A much-needed victory for GAIS, who move up to seventh place in Superettan. Örgryte continues to struggle at the bottom of the table after their sixth consecutive loss.
