Östers IF faced Östersund in a highly interesting Superettan match on Saturday afternoon at Visma Arena in Växjö. The league leaders from Östershamn were four points ahead before the match, but the guests from Östersund had shown good form recently and were fourth in the table.

The match started relatively evenly, but Östers IF had the clearly more dangerous chances during the first half hour. However, the ball just would not go in, and the first half ended goalless.

At the beginning of the second half, the match took a dramatic turn. Östersund's Mansour Sinyan received his second yellow card and was sent off, making it significantly tougher for the guests.

But Östersund only displayed an even tougher defense, and Östers IF still struggled to create really dangerous chances. However, in the 84th minute, the only goal of the match came. Unfortunately for the home team, it was an own goal that put Östersund in the lead.

Östers IF desperately tried to equalize, but it wouldn't happen, and the match ended 0-1 in favor of the guests. A tough loss for the home team Östers IF, but Östersund showcased a strong defense and took all three points home. The victory means that the guests are now closing the gap to Östershamn by three points and continue to fight for a place in the Allsvenskan next season.
